Hey beauties, when it comes down to moisturizers I’m really picky because of my oily acne-prone skin. So when it comes down to choosing a good moisturizer for my skin type the first thing I look for is-I prefer to avoid ingredients like silicones, chemicals, fragrances, petrolatum, and unstable oils, all of which can make your skin worse instead of improving your skin health. Another factor I look for is, is it suitable for oily skin, and can it be used all season long (As my skin usually stays the same in hot weather months down to winter months). I never really raved highly about a moisturizer until now!

LXMI, pronounced luxe-me, is committed to three distinct brand tenets:

  • • Pure, rare ingredients from the unique terroir
  • • Going beyond charity to provide work for women, and
  • • Natural and organic botanicals, often safe-enough-to-eat

Leila Janah founded LXMI after a chance discovery of Nilotica, LXMI’s signature ingredient, at a market in Uganda. She was astounded by the rare butter’s ability to transform her moisture-deprived, overly-traveled skin from lackluster to luminous. Once she learned that she could help marginalized East African women find dignified work through the wild harvesting, production, and exportation of Nilotica, she knew she had to change her life to share her new skincare secret with the world. But she didn’t stop there. She went the extra mile(s) to source Nilotica Reserve™, now LXMI’s exclusive form of the butter, from the highest-grade nuts in the most pristine areas of the Nile River Valley. Nilotica Reserve’s characteristics are sky-high essential fatty acids (+25% that of traditional Shea Butter), natural vitamin crystals that dissolve on the skin, and impact sourcing techniques to ensure that LXMI producers are always paid living wages for their efforts.

CRÈME DU NIL Decadent Daily Moisturizer to Hydrate Skin and Diminish PoresLike the Nile River itself, Crème du Nil is a powerful source of hydration. Formulated as a unique feather-light formula, it delivers LXMI’s signature ingredient, Nilotica Reserve™, for surprisingly serious moisture in a pillowy texture. With hibiscus flower acids to exfoliate skin’s surface and Ugandan vanilla to help preserve skin against the aging process, this Nile River cocktail creates a dewy, youthful finish, which is perfect under powder makeup and before you sleep.

My first encounter with the Crème du Nil moisturizer was trying out a sample, after that it was history. I love brands that have samples you can try before you buy, or deluxe and travel sizes to try before committing to full size. I love that LXMI gives you the option to track the origin of your product. Each product has a harvest number, you can put in this harvest number on the harvest number search on the website and trace the origin of your product. Pretty cool, right… You actually get to meet the women who harvest the ingredients in your skincare. They focus on quality. Their product is all-natural, pure and potent. Their products are ethically sourced and produced sustainably. Something that a lot of natural brand skincare doesn’t do is include bio screen results. (Study testing for irritation and sensitization) that Lxmi does. Can’t forget about the gorgeous packaging, which rivals any mainstream luxury brands. This moisturizer also comes with a double-sided applicator. The flat, black side is for scooping out the product, to avoid cross-contamination from your fingertips. The other side has a copper ball for massaging it in. This helps stimulate the skin, and has a cooling and refreshing effect that is particularly great for dark circles and puffiness!

This is a luxurious cream, the texture is not too heavy, not too light, and it sinks into my skin so beautifully. This moisturizer feels luxurious and fluffy like your skin is sitting on pillow-like clouds. It leaves my skin feeling soft, smooth, supple, dewy, and hydrated. Best of all, it leaves my skin feeling like “skin”, and not that greasy sticky feeling. Dry skin? No problem. Combination skin? No problem. Oily Skin? No problem at all. This moisturizer saved my oily skin. I freaking love this ISH! Let me give you beauties a little insight on my stubborn, when I say stubborn that’s an understatement. My stubborn dry flaky patchy skin that’s caused by my eczema which I get around my nose. I’ve tried it all from exfoliates to heavy creams, to all different kinds of oils nothing seemed to really work. I’ve searched high and low for so long on what is the cause that nothing is helping. Then after much intense research I found out the cleansers, and wrong skincare was co-operating to making my skin worse. After getting to know my skin, I became determined to find the perfect moisturizer. It was the Creme Du Nil which is heaven-sent for my dry spots and overall oily skin! It keeps my oils from being too oily, No more dryness, no more flakiness, and no more peeling. I also use this as a primer, and whoa is all I can say to that. It is the best priming canvas for my skin by smoothing and plumping, in prep for my makeup. It makes my makeup look truly flawless like perfection. I can even just use powder on top of this moisturizer on days when I don’t want to put on foundation and it looks amazing. This is a bit pricey, but worth the price tag!
