Hey, beauties, I know I haven’t posted in a while but this holiday season has been so hectic. But, since the new year has arrived I plan on taking 2019 on with more blog posts and reviews. Unfortunately, my first blog post of 2019 is a review about a concealer from at Clove + Hallow that just didn’t work for me. I hate to start the New Year with a negative review but I have to always stay honest in my reviews no matter good or bad.
This brand started by Sarah Biggers a freelance makeup artist who had a mystery illness which led her to change her lifestyle habits and also led her to detoxifying her makeup as well.
Buildable yet lightweight liquid concealer (a rarity in green beauty!) that offers medium-to-full coverage without flaking, breaking, or caking. PETA-certified cruelty free and vegan as always.
Their Conceal + Correct ($18, 0.18 oz) is a liquid concealer that claims to be medium to full coverage.
It comes in 10 shades, and I’m in shade concealer 4.
The packaging comes in a wand application clear tube, it does get messy all around the tube especially the wand because it’s matte and white.
Coconut Alkanes, Water, Silica, Polyglyceryl-3 Diisostearate, Jojoba Esters, Candelilla Wax, Fractionated Coconut Oil, Cetyl Alcohol, Sodium Benzoate, Potassium Cetyl Phosphate, Octyltriethoxysilane, Vitamin E, Argan Oil, Triethoxycaprylylsilane, Dimethicone; May Contain Iron Oxides
I really wanted to love this concealer, but this just didn’t work out for me as an under-eye concealer. I wish I loved this as much as people raved about it but for me, it just failed to conceal under my eyes. Let me tell you why, and let me tell what I do use this concealer for that does work. I will give you the pros and cons of this concealer from my personal use. I’m not in no way bashing the brand in any way just because it’s a negative review. This is just about the concealer. I have not tried out every product from Clove + Hallow, I do love there lip velvet that I’ve tried which will be in another blog post soon. I plan on trying more from there line In the future.
No matter what I did, or how I applied it for use as my under eye concealer it didn’t work. It creases so bad under my eyes, flakes, looks drying, settles into my fine lines, looks cakey even if when just applying a little bit, and makes me look older than I am. I really really tried in an attempt to maybe some way or somehow it will work. I went on YouTube, and read reviews, what is there that I haven’t tried to see if I can fall in love with it. But, unfortunately, it still didn’t work. I tried every possible method from using my hands to different brushes, and a beauty blender/sponge still nothing helped in working as an under-eye concealer. I tried different eye creams, to no eye creams, to different primers/eye primers, and that still didn’t help. I even tried different setting/finishing powders from matte powders to hydrating powders, to even not setting it with a powder and just a setting spray. Guess what it all failed in trying for it to work under my eyes, I have just say this isn’t for me. This is not a medium to full coverage concealer its more of a light to buildable medium coverage. So if you have really dark circles, this will not fully cover them.
What I do like about this concealer is it has a creamy formula that blends like a dream. It’s easy to apply, covers redness and imperfections well as a spot concealer all over my face where I need it.
It sucks that it didn’t work as an under-eye concealer for me, because it has amazing ingredients and it’s affordable. I’ll try this maybe during the spring and summer where my under-eyes are not as drying and then I’ll give an update. I have oily skin and it works great when I use it anywhere on my face but my under-eyes. I’ll continue to use it as a spot concealer on my face but for an under eye concealer is a no for me.
What are your thoughts on this concealer? Is it just me or does anyone have problems with this concealer not working on them?
Until next time,
